Fireplace Mantle Decoration Inspiration for Fall and Thanksgiving

Mantles are one of the most commonly decorated features in a home. No matter the size or style any mantle can be transformed into a festive and colorful portrayal of the season! Here are some beautiful ideas for Fall and Thanksgiving.

Simple and Sweet

If you enjoy fall colors but prefer a more open and light design, try using one big focal point like the mirror as shown in the photo. Accent this piece by placing one or two seasonal pieces. The key is to keep color concentrated on a few areas and leave plenty of space for the eyes to settle.

Vibrant

The best part about fall is the array of colors it comes with. Browns, oranges, burgundy and yellows are warm and inviting colors to decorate with. Vibrant décor styles can easily be done for the season. Keep your colors spread evenly at the top, sides and bottom of your fireplace.

The example shown uses fall leaves by draping them in such a way they appear to have fallen naturally into place. Have a few pieces like vases or containers to give the décor some height. To balance it all out add some natural wheat or cream colored pieces.

Shabby Chic

If a subdued look is more your taste then try using natural fabrics and textures. Mix them with a few distressed wood pieces. Add one or two items that are fall oriented and you have a wonderful shabby chic feel. Fall isn’t always about color; it is also about the calm and peaceful state that nature brings after an exciting summer!

Modern

Clean lines, simple shapes and colors are what make up a modern design. The example shown uses triangles and rectangles then adds seasonal pumpkin and leaf shapes. Modern looks tend to have a pop of color scattered here and there not necessarily color throughout. Décor pieces are placed evenly and symmetrically. Top it off with a seasonal word banner and you have a lovely modern approach to autumn.

Creative Replacements

Try using your normal décor and transforming it into seasonal décor. Place gourds or small pumpkins on your normal candle sticks. Fill your hurricane vases with acorns. Replace your family photos with Thanksgiving scenes or designs. Even just replacing your candles with seasonal colors will add a festive touch. With a little creativity you can easily use what you have and still have a beautiful style for your fireplace!

Happy Fall decorating!
